Build, Grow, & Learn With Us!

Sage Stoneman will be facilitating this workshop where we will build a circular timber-framed cob community pavilion and realize our dream of a sacred space for healing with fire, water, and the land.

You’ll learn practical skills to build a structure with natural and reclaimed materials. We will learn to work with cob (clay, sand, and natural fiber), tree trunks, branches, stone, and found materials from the surrounding community. This is an opportunity to empower yourself to create ecologically-integrated and functional art that defies conventions and inspires others to do the same!

This workshop is for you if….

you’re considering building a natural structure, want to try natural building as a career, want to connect with like minded people and spend quality time in nature, or are just curious to try something new!

We will discuss theory and design, address specific questions, and most of our time will be spent engaging in real time building processes! There will be tasks for all skill levels and physical capacities, and you are always welcome to step back and witness. We will also focus on natural building as a form of therapy and healing, and as a way to connect with your organic creativity and embodied inspiration. Together we will explore what becomes possible when we engage with life and with nature from a perspective of collaboration and stewardship.

Tightly wound to identity, Coco Villa leads a multidisciplinary art-research practice, heavily influenced by analog photography and dance, investigating relations between body, object, and environment. Their work spans across disciplines of performance, fashion design, installation, photography, and film. They utilize material and movement languages to tell autobiographical stories, explore human intimacy and environmental impacts on spirituality, and build familial archives through self-portraiture and choreography.
DIDIDADA is a movement workshop. It is a guided improvisation practice and a nod to nonsensical play. It was created to give your mind, body, and spirit a sparkly mega boost through a variety of multidisciplinary exercises. It is about release, getting back into our bodies, and simply dancing for the joy of moving through hyper warm ups, routines, and prompts. The signature component unfolds as a movement meditation, utilizing the body’s new physical vocabulary introduced throughout the workshop to improvise in your own style and groove. This workshop is open to all skill levels, ages 5 and up. There is no choreography. There is no right way, just the fun way.

Meet Your Facilitators

About a decade ago, I discovered natural building as a new medium for artistic expression. After apprenticing with Sun Ray Kelley, I began designing and building cob homes for a living.
I believe that “home” is a feeling that can be embodied in the structures we live in. A feeling that every human deserves as a birth right.
For me, home is a feeling of childlike wonder which connects me to all of life, and a safe space to be when I need to retreat from the overwhelm of this world and connect with my innermost being.
I am passionate about natural building as a way of asking “Who am i?
What does home feel like?
How is this feeing unique to me?
How does it unite me with all of humanity?
How can I work with this earth to create a physical structure which embodies this feeling through reverence and humble curiosity?”
In this way, natural building has become more than an artistic medium for me. It is a form of therapy and a modality of self-healing. I want to share this experience with you, and help as many humans as possible to have a physical home, where they can truly feel at home.
