FOREST SCHOOL 2024

All You Need offers accessible youth programming that is playful, sensory, and helps our youth connect with the world around them. We are proud to announce an expansion of our Forest School offerings for 2024, as we keep our kids program for ages 4-8 and are now offering a group for older youth, ages 8-14.

At Forest School  kids explore, play, and learn about the inner workings of our more than 100 acres of sandy pine forest. Our facilitators and activities nurture sensory awareness, relational and collaboration skills, and creative problem solving. We will explore the plants, trees, waters, animals, and soils all around us including topics like animal interactions, bugs and pollinators, soils and tiny worlds, and human adaptations. Your child will be immersed in creative art and building projects that are integrated into the natural environment like cob building, weaving, and cooking/fire making.  Together, we hope to nuture a budding community of youth who are learning and growing together with the land in this region. Most of all, we will have a lot of fun!

Kids are asked to bring their own lunch with them which we will eat together during our adventure. Parents are welcome to stay on site, we have wifi available, trails to explore, and hammocks/yurt area to relax in while the children learn.

About Our Educators

Callie Oliver

Callie is an educator and nature enthusiast with passions for mycology, herbalism, and cultural immersion. She earned her Bachelors from Tulane in Environmental Science and Anthropology where she did under graduation lab work in mycology. She recently received her Masters from the National University of Natural Medicine in Community Organizing and Social Activism. She currently teaches and writes curriculum for Ask Wonder Explore in New Orleans and is commuted to broadening educational opportunities in New Orleans since working at the nonprofit STEM Library Lab. She loves finding ways to challenge, excite, and inspire students to pursue their deepest dreams and curiosities without judgment or shame.

Billie Golan

Billie “Goat” has been fascinated with the small but mighty networks of ecology ever since digging for worms in her grandmothers backyard compost heap. She got hooked into the local ag scene surrounding her undergrad college experience in New York’s Hudson Valley where she started integrating and leading immersive education for all ages with agriculture and botany. She was the Farm Camp director at Seed Song Farm and Center in Kingston NY for three years before moving to New Orleans in 2020 to join the team as lead Educator at Recirculating Farms. Living and working at All You Need Institute has provided a rich playground to discover the beautiful connections and delicate networks of fungi, plants and animals of our ecosystem. She is delighted to discover, uncover, inquire and play on this land with the awesome kids of Forest School!
