All You Need Institute is looking for live-in resident(s) and collaborator(s)! Our 8×12 climate controlled cabin and loft space will be available for the right person(s) to move-in starting Sept 15th.

The right candidates will love the outdoors and are interested in exploring a lifestyle of living closer to the land and in community with others. We are looking for folks who want to be a part of a quickly growing land project and contribute to shaping its goals and capacities for the months to come. Excellent communication skills, a flexible, open-minded attitude, capacity to collaborate with others, and a desire to grow and learn are essential.

Currently at All You Need Institute we offer community building programs and workshops, host organizational and private retreats, and operate a public facing campground. We also work consistently to implement conservation practices and live in right relationship with the land including invasive species management, protection of endangered wildlife, prescribed burning, and following permaculture principles to lead life more in sync with the needs of the earth. We need assistance maintaining and strengthening these operations, as well as keep up with communications and community building work.

In the months to come, we are embarking on small-scale building/renovation projects to better serve our community. We are engaged in a master planning process for our grounds and will soon be embarking on a fundraising campaign. We are also gearing up to install our gardens & orchard, reconfigure our mushroom growing operation, and develop a native plant nursery. And we are hoping to launch signature fellowship and educational intensive programs.

If any of these projects/tasks sound exciting to you and/or fit within your skill set please don’t hesitate to reach out and apply. We are eager to work with you and tailor your role here according to your specific interests, educational desires, and personal experiences. Folks with ties and/or committed interest to the Gulf South region are preferred. We can also potentially work with couples and/or have room for more than one individual.

Our ultimate goal is turn the economic operations of our project into a worker-owned co-op. We strive to create harmonious and radical living and working conditions that challenge capitalist ideals and seed new ways of growing and working together.

TIME COMMITMENT/EXCHANGE: The resident will be expected to work 15 hrs/week in exchange for room & board (3x nutritious meals/day + snacks). Room is a fully climate controlled cabin & loft with access to part-time shared outdoor kitchen & bathroom facilities. Wifi and electricity are readily available on the property, which is located 1 hr and 20 min away from New Orleans. Community space includes a 706 sq ft yurt with a fully stocked library (when it is not being rented privately). A stipend is also available based on skills and availability. You do not have to live full time on the land in order to fulfill your duties.

Work hours compensated at the rate of $15/hr can be made available beyond the 15/hrs a week if desired by the resident, and will depend on skill set and tasks available.  Opportunities to increase personal income are also available in the form of offering services to renters/retreat guests (i.e. if you offer massage therapy, yoga, cooking, workshops/events), or selling goods like freshly harvested yaupon (our native yerba mate) tea, ice, meals, or firewood to campers. We welcome your creativity and ideas in terms of ways you’d like to contribute to the overall ecosystem of activities and events on the land. We are ultimately looking for long-term collaborators and community members, and are eager to work with you to make living on the land together financially abundant and supportive for your personal goals.
