All You Need is looking for live-in handyperson and/or permaculture fellows for the late spring/summer season. Applicants must be able to commit to at least a 6-week term of stay.
Ideally this is a person who loves the outdoors and is interested in diving deep into a lifestyle of living closer to the land and in community with others. Excellent communication skills, a flexible, open-minded attitude, and a desire to grow and learn are essential. Basic building/handyman skills & knowledge of permaculture practices and principles are a big plus but not necessary–there will be lots of opportunities to learn.
Immediate projects include finish work on our DIY 500sqft tiny home (skills in insulation, siding, trim carpentry), maintenance work on our remaining buildings, mushroom growing, compost toilet & soil building incl. biochar, invasive species removal, clean-up and beautification projects (benches, picnic tables), and participation in a permaculture design process to begin developing our garden and orchards.
TIME COMMITMENT/EXCHANGE: Fellows will be expected to work 21 hrs/week in exchange for room & board (3x nutritious meals/day + snacks). Room is a fully converted and very cute short bus, with easy access to shared full kitchen & bathroom facilities. Wifi and electricity are readily available on the property. Community space includes a 731 sqft yurt with a full permaculture library (when it is not being rented privately).
Monetary compensation ($10/hr) will be provided for any additional hours requested as needed to operate our retreat/event center (never mandatory). Opportunities to increase side income are also available in the form of offering services to renters/retreat guests (i.e. if you offer massage therapy, cooking services, workshops/events), or selling goods like freshly harvested yaupon tea, ice, meals, or firewood to campers. We welcome your creativity and ideas in terms of ways you’d like to contribute to the overall ecosystem of activities and events on the land. We are ultimately looking for long-term collaborators and community members, so don’t hesitate to share your ideas with us if that may be in alignment for you.
